System warranties are among one
of the most important features concerning home owners today. Heating
and cooling equipment is just too expensive to skip the warranty
information.
While some of the biggest manufacturers
are still stuck in the old standard of the 5 and 1 year deal, others are
offering longer 10 and 5 year, and even lifetime packages at no additional
cost.
Basically the warranties cover the compressor for
5 years and 1 year on all other items.
Those other
items include things such as fan motors, relays, drain pans,
capacitors & valves. These other items are some of the most likely to
cause a problem. So it is of the utmost importance to get more
warranty time on these.
Companies like Goodman Manufacturing offer up to lifetime on their
high efficiency compressors and 5 years on the other parts. As of this
writing there are no others that we know of who offer a lifetime
warranty.
Warranties from the manufacturers do not
cover labor from your installers. Yes you may get the replacement
parts for free, however the labor is not.
Its time
consuming for your contractor to send a serviceman out and troubleshoot a system, locate
the parts, then take a trip to the supply house pick them up and return to install them.
Labor can easily go from an hour to a few.
Most installing companies will provide the customer
with 1 year labor free for any repairs, however after that year you
may be on your own.
At Northern Air Conditioning we offer full parts warranties with all
of our installations to match the manufacturers compressor warranty
with our labor.
In other words it costs you nothing ,even a few years down the road.
There is a small catch, you must have us service the system once a
year.
Our service includes all the recommendations of the manufacturer which
is stated on most warranties. Without annual service most will not
cover any parts. This is what is in their limited warranty.
Unlike
other plans and gimmicks that just charge you for extra protection plans.
We state this in all of our sales agreements right up front where you
can see it. And the best part is its all up to the customer to renew
annually.
So while choosing your equipment and or contractor be sure to find out
just what is included in their package.
